In this particular game its unnecessary since you do not NEED the higher end tool to do the job though. It gives a bonus timer reduction, which is nice though. Having them available through NPC would possibly create a obol sink, but would have to be much higher then 200 if logs are still able to be sold for 2

I would say with the amount needed for everything and early fail rates, the timer on copper is too high, espcially with stone being half of what it is.
