Cocoa beans + Fermentor may be broken

I am using a 200 slot fermentor and when I put cocoa beans in, instead of taking just 200 of them, it takes all of them. Last time it took all 265 and after the timer was done it gave 265 fermented ones back. Is this broken or does each bean take less then 1 slot somehow? I am afraid it uses space like storehouses (ie apples take 1 slot) but PLEASE don't make small things like beans take up 1 slot each in storage too.
