New player's feedback

After playing for a few days, here are my initial comments:

Positive

1. User interface is very nicely designed;

2. Overall, the tutorial is fine;

3. Basic game dynamics of collecting and combining work well.

Negative

1. The fail rate for combines is too high. I grinded Smithing to Level 6 so I could make a Copper Hammer, the most important tool for other Smithing combines. After nine fails in a row, I posted a question to Help Chat; the response that I received from a seasoned player was "Yes, the fail rate is high. It's very irritating."

Later, I grinded Smithing to Level 10 so I could make Copper Nails. Again, the fail rate is ridiculous.

The best game in this genre is Drakor. While it has fails for collecting, all combines are successful.

2. The English in the tutorial has lots of mistakes. If Battered Shield is properly designed (for localization), all text will be stored in one file. You should have somebody with competent written English skills proofread the file for you. (No, not me)

3. Highlighting in this editor...ahhh, are you trying to set a new international standard with the red font color? Please following the existing standard of white font color / dark background color.

I have decided to quit playing Battered Shield due to its absurd failure rates. I just did 10 attempts to make Copper Nails...1 success, 9 fails. AFK games such as Battered Shield are tedious enough already; stop adding to the tedium with this "innovation" of high failure rates.

To the game's designer: You are no Steve Jobs. Double experience for fails versus successes is NOT a good new idea. If you want to distinguish your game, find more constructive ways.

Thank you for your feedback. Reading why people quit is highly valuable, and unfortunately rare. Thank you for taking the time to share your opinions before you quit. If everyone did that, We think the game would be a lot better off.
