Timer runs out without actually producing a result

Abracadaver 8 lat temu Ostatnio zmodyfikowane przez Lorinthar 8 lat temu 9

I noticed today while smithing that the timer would run down, then not produce any kind of result (no success, no failure, no items consumed, no xp change) and restart.

This was attempt one:

It completed, and this was the screen during the following timer:

Note the empty line above the action totals button.I think I've noticed this on other activities as well, a few of the upgrades related to building my storage - didn't pay enough attention to it at the time to give any more details though.

I've gotten the same bug for other activities such as fishing.

Looks like this happens quite frequently on my laptop (windows 7, chrome, wifi connected). Not so much on my fixed pc (windows 8, also chrome, cabled network connection)

Just did a test in Firefox on that same laptop. The game registered 20 attempts at "Remove Rocks" for our compound, 46-47 seconds per attempt. My stopwatch showed 28 mins 11 secs after the 20th registered attempt, so that should've been 36ish attempts.

Just adding more data as I go along, in case this helps narrow the problem down :)

Just did 54 chop tree actions without any unregistered attemps, still on that same laptop using Firefox. So it appears related to specific skills (or even specific tasks inside those skills)

And a little more data that came up in chat:

AbracadaverCoven -

silk, since you seem to be around.. if you

take a quick look at

https://batteredshield.userecho.com/topics/233-timer-runs-out-without-actually-producing-a-result/

does that give you enough information to look for a problem, or would

you like any more data collected to be added to the thread?

help 1:37:58 AM notOlivierassebWAUW - are you logged into the game on multiple devices?
help 1:38:51 AM AbracadaverCoven - i am switching back and forth occasionally, although my last tests (clearing rock and chopping trees) were done without any switches inbetween
help 1:40:17 AM notOlivierassebWAUW - hmm and you're sure that in the last test, you were not logged into the other device doing anything at all?
help 1:41:42 AM notOlivierassebWAUW - the game doesn't kick you when you log in from another device so you will keep doing the actions on the other device which causes some weird actions to happen
help 1:41:43 AM AbracadaverCoven - not 100%, but in an attempt to reproduce the problem, i started the same action there... in that case, the timer in the second session simply doesn't count down at all, it started at (probably) the position the other session was at and sat there
help 1:42:20 AM notOlivierassebWAUW - weird, hopefully silk will be able to help you more

help 1:42:51 AM AbracadaverCoven - yeah, i understand what you're getting at, i'll make sure to watch out for that as well so we can at least rule things out

Also happens with copper ore in Ore Town (sometimes even twice in a row). Doesn't appear to happen with trees in Farmery.

Happens to me too sometimes.

Coming back to this, looks like notOlivierasseb may have been onto something after all. It seems to happen with every activity, if I switch to a different device and start doing something in the town where I already was. If i travel to a nearby town and back, then start doing the same thing, everything works fine and no actions are skipping. I think the device I was logged in at (at home) would've been sitting at a botcheck by the time I got to work and continued working.

That was not the case for me. I was only logged in in one browser session when it happened to me. And conversely, I have previously been logged in from two browser sessions with the active one continuing to work normally while the disabled one was stuck at a bot check.
