More Sleep/Rest for the man with RL

Captcha

1. 30 minutes captcha check is not too short, but not long enough.

Suggestions :

Allow for and option to be able to extend those captchas... a healthy player is a productive one... and we need more sleep to be healthy ;) ... we also need to go to work to maybe make some donations here to help maintain the game.

How?

1. Make premium donations permanent/accumulating... like once you hit a certain amount of donations, you unlock a bonus captcha extension... and it just goes up.

2. Also provide an option for your most active players to be able to unlock those captcha extensions without spending a lot or any real life cash... this would balance out the benefits gained by the most active ones and your biggest spenders.

Just a suggestion.

Always,
Top1 ;P

There's nothing objectively wrong with this suggestion, especially coming from a very new player who is not very familiar with Battered Shield yet. There are games out there that will happily play themselves 24/7, so I can understand where he is coming from. But I don't think this is the right game for it. It looks like it was designed to largely play itself but still require an occasional click from the user. And I think there's a niche for this sort of game, so I wouldn't want this changed. If this is a deal-breaker and you would really prefer a game where you can buy unlimited idle time, you might like to try Relics of Avabur, and perhaps other players might be able to offer other suggestions.

so it gets the thumbs down because it would be similar to those other games on the "playability" part alone

we are not even discussing contents yet... just the playability part... its a lot different from avabur or mqo on contents as far as i have seen... but the playability can sure improve

tell me, why would it be bad if the game becomes more playable? like as playable as those other games you mentioned?

What you're proposing does not make it more playable. Some players want to play the game rather than have the game play itself. Taken to the extreme, your idea turns into Progress Quest (but a version of it that costs money?) and history has shown that not everybody likes that sort of gameplay. There's nothing objectively wrong with games that don't play themselves while you sleep; most AAA titles are like that, for example.

To be clear, I'm not saying you're wrong to want a game that does play itself while you're sleeping. Everyone is free to like different things. I'm just saying that not everyone wants that. I suppose if someone came in and started saying that this game needs more 3D graphics and a more Halo-like FPS element, you'd understand why that wouldn't be a great suggestion? That's similar to what your suggestion sounds like to me, though perhaps less extreme.

So I actually think the biggest problem here (heh) is different definitions of 'playability'. Your idea of it and mine (ours? given many people in chat voiced similar things) are different. It's a different audience that this game is (generally) marketed to, and we/they want different things than you are asking for.

Your ideal is a game like BoL, RoA, or MQO - you basically stated this. These are games that you can dump as much premium currency as you want into extending how long the game will play itself before you have to touch it. These games are also number of action based rather than timer based. It's a different style of game, where there are individual actions in each skill, and you can do as many of these actions in your 30 minute period without worrying about a botcheck as you want (as opposed to mqo, where too many clicks around the ui will trigger a botcheck no matter what you are doing, and will log you out if you don't answer it).

I know the words pay to win got tossed around a lot, but it's not even that so much as essentially... botting the game, in a sense. There's nothing inherently wrong with wanting a game that does that but if that's what you want you may consider looking at the games that already exist in /that/ genre instead of this one, and seeing if you can find your ideal.

TL;DR I don't think you're /wrong/ necessarily, but I feel like you may be talking to the wrong audience, and that's where the disconnect is happening.

probably yes.... wrong audience ... so maybe you are right, not the right game for the likes of me

just think of it, from the point of view of someone who thinks that other new game (LSD) was a nice game... it was just not as playable for the same reason i stated, hence, its already on its dying state this early

a game cannot just rely on its already inhouse customers, it has to diversify in order to survive the test of longevity.

cater to as much classes of customers as possible.

for a player who has played a lot of games already... when you stumble into a new one... the first thing you look into is its playability... how will you adapt to it, will you still be able to cope up with real life and still be topnotch in the game... if the answer is no, then its better to close that window.

i hope the devs reply to these threads... will still keep the tab till they officially shut this idea down

i seriously like the game content so far... will have to let go this early if its not playable for me though.
